Google’s rumored Pixel Watch 4 may charge on its side rather than on its back, based on leaked official renders of the watch published by Android Headlines. The watch may also get a roughly 25 percent improvement in charging speed over the Pixel Watch 3.
Without charging contacts on the back, the Pixel Watch 4 will now have a “new array of sensors,” Android Headlines says. The switch might also make the Pixel Watch 4 more repairable; with previous Pixel Watches, Google has offered replacements but not repairs.
By propping up the watch on its side, it seems like the new charging system could be handier for places like a nightstand where having the watch lay flat might be inconvenient.

Google is hosting a product launch event on August 20th, and Android Headlines reports that the company is planning to announce the Pixel Watch 4 in 41mm and 45mm sizes at the event. The company is also expected to announce its Pixel 10 lineup at the show, and it seemingly leaked the lineup in full already.
